Description
Premium Marabu Charcoal
Marabu charcoal is a premium hardwood charcoal from Cuba, made from 100% Marabu (Dichrostachys cinerea), an invasive plant species that has spread rapidly across the Cuban countryside.
Using Marabu to produce charcoal provides a valuable use for this invasive species without relying on large-scale tree felling. The result is a dense, high-performance charcoal with a high heat output and a slow, steady burn, making it particularly suitable for open grills and charcoal ovens.
With a fixed carbon content of over 84% and a calorific value of 31.91 MJ/kg, Marabu charcoal reaches high temperatures and maintains consistent heat for long periods. Under normal conditions, it can burn for approximately 4 hours on an open grill and up to around 8 hours in a charcoal oven.
Its cylindrical pieces, ranging from 40 to 180 mm, provide good and even heat distribution. It also produces very little sparks and ash, helping to maintain a cleaner and safer working environment during service.
Marabu charcoal is 100% natural, contains no paraffin or chemical additives, and is not mixed with other hardwoods. Its combustion produces a subtle, pleasant aroma without overpowering the natural flavour of the food.
A premium charcoal for those looking for high performance, long burning time and consistent heat, especially for open grills and charcoal ovens.
