Description
Production area
D.O.P. Alicante is divided into the D.O of Vinalopó and D.O. La Marina. The village of “El Morrón”, where the 42-year-old vineyards are located, is located on the limit of the Vinalopó denomination, practically immediately to the D.O. Almansa. This area is surrounded by the Sierra de Mariola and the Sierra de Salinas, 40km from the Mediterranean and at an altitude of 520m. The soil is limestone and stony, poor in organic content and shallow. The vines are conducted using the Cordon Royat system that favors the quality and growth of the grapes, with a Northwest-Southeast orientation to avoid exposure to the sun. The area is considered the cradle of Monastrell and is perfect for its cultivation due to its warm-continental climate combination.
Grape: 100% Monastrell
Winemaking process
The cultivation work is minimalist, trying not to intervene in the natural process, thus developing the maximum potential of the land and the grape variety. This organically grown grape is harvested at dawn on the last days of September, in small boxes to preserve its quality until pressing.
Cold maceration for 2 days and soft pressing after 18 days of fermentation with natural yeasts. Malolactic fermentation with its grounds in steel vats for 4 months. Aged for a minimum of 6 months in French oak.
Tasting note
Intense red, with rust tones. Robust, with soft velvety tannins and a long aftertaste. Well balanced, with a mineral touch and elegant aromas of spices.
Perfect for stews, meats, game, sausages and cheeses.
